Air France crew escape Mali hotel siege

All 12 Air France crew who were caught up in the siege at the Radisson Blu hotel in Mali have escaped and are safe, according to the airline.

The group is made up of two pilots and ten cabin crew.

Mali’s state broadcaster said that 80 hostages have been freed from the hotel in Bamako.

Six Turkish Airlines employees are understood to have escaped, but one member of airline staff remains unaccounted for.

The latest update from Radisson Blu confirmed that 124 guests and 13 employees remain in the building.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said in an updated travel advisory: “There is an ongoing incident at the Radisson Hotel in Bamako; if you are in Bamako avoid the area and follow the instructions of the local authorities.”
