EasyJet deputy chairman and former Thomson Travel chief executive, Charles Gurassa, has been named as the new chairman of Channel 4.
Gurassa will replace outgoing chairman Lord Burns at the helm of the broadcaster from Thursday.
He is also senior independent director of Merlin Entertainments and a trustee of English Heritage.
Ofcom made the appointment at Channel 4 for a three-year term.
Ofcom chairman, Dame Patricia Hodgson, said Gurassa “brings with him a wealth of experience built up across a broad range of sectors”.
Gurassa said: “I am excited to be joining Channel 4, which has a unique place in UK broadcasting. I look forward to exploring Channel 4’s important contribution in a rapidly changing sector.”
