Abta head of financial protection John de Vial will run the London Marathon this Sunday to raise funds for the Family Holiday Association FHA in what he calls “my annual madness”.
De Vial reports his fundraising for the FHA reached £12,000 this week, thanks to backing from the industry, and he is keen to get to £12,500.
He said: “I’m well on track to delivering a good number of holidays for the FH – £12,500 would be 25 holidays at an average cost of £500, which would be amazing.
“Anything people can do would be very much appreciated.”
De Vial last ran the London Marathon in 2014, also to raise funds for the FHA and in memory of his colleague and friend the former Abta president Ian Reynolds. He also ran the London Marathon in 1988.
Last year, he ran 100 kilometres from London to Brighton to raise £10,000 for the FHA, which aims to help 4,000 families this year. De Vial also ran the Brighton Marathon in April last year in aid of Abta Lifeline.
