COSMOS new managing director Nigel Wright criticised the travel industry for chasing market share and said his company planned to put the ‘fun’ back into travel.
“We’ve forgotten how to have fun,” claimed Wright. “But being independent and smaller we can add a personal touch. We are developing a fun culture throughout the company and this will be reflected in our holidays. For example, resort representatives will be professionally trained by entertainers.”
Wright said Cosmos’ 40 year-old brand was strong among the public, but its trade perception had been allowed to languish.
“It will take a year to make the changes we want, but in just three months we have achieved a lot. We don’t need to grow in market share, we just need to give customers what they want.”
