Barbados-based Elegant Hotels opens its latest luxury property and spa this week.
The group, which floated on the AIM in London last year, said that the 70-room Waves Hotel in Barbados, acquired for $18 million, had been “extensively redesigned and refurbished”.
The listed hotel group accounts for 29% of Barbados’s four and five-star rooms, running the Colony Club, Tamarind, The House, Crystal Cove, and Turtle Beach. It also runs Daphne’s restaurant, a favourite of celebrities.
Company chief executive, Sunil Chatrani, said that Waves would be earnings enhancing for the year by the 12 months ending September 30, 2017.
He told The Times: “We are thrilled to have officially opened the doors of Waves to visitors, and are extremely pleased with the early feedback that we have received from customers and travel agents alike.”
The group recruited Richard Jones, a former finance director of Cineworld, as its chief financial officer in April, ahead of a wider expansion across the Caribbean.
