SINGAPORE Airlines has given its clearest indication so far it is to cut commissions for UK agents.
Speaking exclusively to Travel Weekly, general manager UK and Ireland Paul Tan said SIA would match British Airways with reduced rates in the future.
Tan said: “We will follow the market leader in the UK. We have dropped commissions in other European markets to follow other airlines.”
No date has been set for SIA to cut its 9% rate, but Tan said this would be based on when the majority of carriers had matched BA with cuts.
Tan added SIA was reviewing agents’ payments in Singapore with a view to introducing a cap on rates this year. Details have yet to be drawn up.
