James Coughlan is to leave Holiday Malta following a management reshuffle that will see Dean Jones become group managing director of the Magic Travel Group.
Magic Travel Group was created in June following the merger of Belleair Holidays owner Holiday Malta and bed bank Magic Rooms.
Jones joined Magic Rooms as managing director for commercial, supply and sales 18 months ago, and will now have sole responsibility for strategy and performance for all group businesses.
Former Thomas Cook chief executive Manny Fontenla-Novoa, who set up Magic Rooms in 2014 and is now chairman, said in a statement: “Since joining Magic Rooms 18 months ago, Dean has delivered strong sales growth in a crowded market place, driven by improved product selection and strengthened supply chains as well as new focus on yield management.
“Dean also brings a wealth of tour operating, commercial and retail expertise from his previous senior roles at Thomas Cook and Travelsoon.”
Jones’s senior management team will include Dave Green, who will take on the new position of group operations director, responsible for product, supply and sales, and Peter Redwood, who will take the position of group finance director.
The statement confirmed Coughlan had decided to leave the business “to pursue a new opportunity”, and would leave on October 31 with the company’s “thanks and sincere best wishes”.
Holiday Malta operates brands including Belleair, Malta Direct and Flexicruise.
