Budget carriers Ryanair and Wizz Air both saw a surge in November passenger numbers.
Ryanair carryings rose by 15% to 8.8 million passengers with the load factor up by two percentage points to 95%.
The increase came on the back of lower autumn fares – with even lower rates available for next summer.
Ryanair chief marketing officer Kenny Jacobs said: “Customers can look forward to even lower fares when they make advance bookings for summer 2017, so there’s never been a better time to book a low fare flight on Ryanair.”
Wizz Air passenger numbers increased last month by more than 19% with an improved load factor.
The eastern and central European budget airline flew 1.77 million passengers over the same month last year.
The passenger load factor was up by three percentage points to 86.8%.
This came as the carrier announced six new routes from Romania and one from Poland and started a further ten.
A new fare category called Wizz Go was also introduced.
