Camping operators have sent 150 of their own tents to help the refugees in Kosovo.
Carisma Holidays managing director Martin Turner said the idea had been mooted by former consumer affairs minister Nigel Griffiths who had already got involved in drumming up support for the refugees in his local constituency in Edinburgh.
“It’s not often the travel industry gets together in helping over things like this. I think it’s a great effort,” said Turner.
Other participating camping specialists included Haven, Canvas Holidays and Eurocamp, which transported the tents to Kosovo.
