Canada Skiing: Quotes

Canada is so cheap. You could easily spend more in a European ski resort. I imagined the resorts would be very close to the ski area so I was very surprised by the sheer distance. It’s fair enough having to take a bus, but not for as long as 40mins. I liked Lake Louise but I had expected there to be more of a town. Fernie was as I expected – not a lot there. I was impressed with the Wolf’s Den. It would be very good for families and there is easy access to the ski area. If they develop Fernie like they say they will, then it will be great.

I thought Lake Louise would be bigger and more commercial but the skiing was brilliant, particularly for beginners and the instructors were also great. There wasn’t much at Fernie and it seemed to be all locals skiing. It’s got so much potential because the mountains are brilliant. Also having an average of 10 metres of snow a year will help Fernie to sell itself. There is a bit of a challenge there for all levels of skiers. The downside for Fernie is the transfer time from Calgary.
