THETruly Independent Professional Travel Organisation has declared its willingness to work with Advantage franchise agents – on certain conditions.
TIPTO, formed by Cadogan Holidays managing director Gary David, said it would be happy to work with the franchisees provided they are genuinely free to rack, promote and sell TIPTOoperators’ products.
The assurance came after rival independent group, the Campaign for Real Travel Agents, expelled Advantage franchise agents claiming they could no longer call themselves independent.
Around 13 companies will be forced to leave CARTA at the end of May when their memberships are due for renewal.
David said: “Several agents called me after CARTA’s decision and assured me they were still independent and will rack what they want to rack.”
Advantage managing director Ron Muir said:”I will reiterate that our franchisees will continue to operate as independents and will rack whoever is appropriate to their local customer needs.”
More than 160 operators have shown an interest in joining TIPTO, which will be narrowed down to 20 at a selection meeting on May 25.
