Operator hits right note for clubbing guide

Cosmos has beaten off competition from Virgin Sun to become the Ministry of Sound’s exclusive tour operator for summer 2001.

The brochure will be overbranded with the Ministry’s Clubber’s Guide To Travel name and will focus on clubbing resorts such as Ibiza Town, Ayia Napa and Magaluf.

Miami is also planned for the 20,000 capacity programme.

Prices will lead in at £399 for a week which is expected to be around £20-£30 more than the existing youth brands.

Cosmos managing director Nigel Wright said the operator hoped to gain a 5% share of the estimated 1m youth market within the next two to three years.

Around 50% of the business is expected to come via the trade for the new programme. The Ministry will use its magazines, radio station, Web site and record company products to promote the club holidays.

Urbanweb, which is acting as a retailer for the Clubbers Guide To Travel product, will be responsible for developing an upmarket property portfolio featuring five-star villas and yachts.

Virgin Sun director Ian Brooks said it was talking to other night club partners about future promotions.
