MALTA specialist Belleair is looking to cash in on the popularity of short breaks by introducing three-night holidays at selected hotels.
The operator’s second-edition summer brochure contains short breaks at nine hotels in Malta.
Three are based on Gozo and two in Sicily.
“Short breaks are selling well and we want to take advantage of their popularity,” said general manager Martin Zahra.
Prices lead in at ú239 per person at the four-star Howard Johnson Diplomat Hotel in Malta.
London-based Belleair is also extending the reduction of its under-occupancy supplement to cover most of its self-catering product.
Zahre said the decision was helping halt the decline of the self-catering market.
“We’ve restored much of the volume and reversed the trend of dropping sales,” he said.
Zahre predicted a 10% rise in business in 1999 which would take carryings to 35,000, a record for the operator. In the second-edition programme, the departure airports of Aberdeen and Humberside have been added taking the total to 13.
