Galileo wins rights to use Majic system

GALILEO UK’s technology development arm Icanos has bought the rights to become the exclusive UK distributor of the Majic Travel System.

Majic is a Windows-based travel agency system designed to handle all aspects of an agent’s front and back-office business.

It was developed in 1990 by travel agent The Gemini Agency, which had been unable to find a suitable system to meet its needs. Icanos has been searching for a suitable replacement for its agency management system, PAMS, which is being scrapped because it is not Year 2000 compliant. It thought it had found a replacement – TravelEdge – used by sister companies Galileo US and Galileo Canada, but UK agents have been unhappy because it is geared to the US market.

An Icanos spokesman said ithe company intended to combine TravelEdge with Majic and launch an upgraded version of Majic in November.
