SIBBALD Travel and Bakers Dolphin will both have to re-apply for membership of the Guild of Business Travel Agents after they were purchased by Thomson and First Choice respectively.
GBTAchief executive Philip Carlisle said both will have to supply information to the guild’s Membership Committee which will then decide if they still meet membership criteria.
He said the decision depends on how the companies will be run now that they are part of larger organisations.
Until the Membership Committee makes its decision, representatives from the agencies are not allowed to attend meetings or sit on working parties.
The merger of another two members Carlson Worldchoice and Thomas Cook means their memberships are being reviewed.
