VisitFlorida has promoted marketing executive Wendy Speirs to senior marketing executive following theresignation of Francine Sheridan. Sheridan has left to set up the Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau, due to open inLondon later this year.
Oliver Brendon has been recruited from TravelSolutions Network, where he was operations manager, to replace Speirs.
n second stansted service for lufthansa
Lufthansa launches a thrice daily Stansted-Frankfurt service on March 28. The new route is Lufthansa’s second service from Stansted following its launch of Munich flights at the end of last year. The move to expand at theairport follows partner SAS adding flights at the airport to build up a strong Star Alliance presence.
n engine room fire damages P&o ferry
Fire broke out in the engine room of P&O’s Pride of Le Havre on Thursday as itwas returning from Southampton to Portsmouth after its annual refit. The cause of the fire, at 4.30am, is thought to have been hot oil spilling from a pump. The extent of the damage to the vessel was not known asTravel Weekly went to press.
