History: After university, started work in 1986 in RTE(Irish TV) in current affairs and, later, features.
Moved to Pebble Mill as researcher in 1988.
Held various roles in independent television from 1989-92.
Moved back to BBC as assistant producer of Watchdog in 1992.
Worked her way up to producer, deputy editor, series producer and then editor of both shows in December 1997.
Typical working week:10 hours a day, five days a week.
Career highlight: Being followed by the mafia in Las Vegas. O’Rahilly and Watchdog presenter Alice Beer went to investigate a telemarketing company and discovered it had some rather dangerous connections. “I was asked off camera by an FBI man: ‘Do you know the meaning of the term organised crime?'”.
