THE practice of adding service charges to bills is generally unpopular in hotels in this country. We, the travel agents, will have to face the public wrath about this new impost.
The public will assume they are now paying for service on the airline, and we get enough comments about that already.
Why should we be expected to explain that this service charge is only for the airports? It will need good spinning to pretend that the price of a ticket will fall (for a few weeks), because the public count the cost of a ticket as the whole price they pay, including taxes.
