n P&0 cuts 1999 prices following capacity boost



P&O has admitted a 23% increase in ship capacity at its US cruise division, Princess Cruises, has led to a fall in prices for 1999. The company said yields were not up to the exceptional level of 1998, when Grand Princess was launched.However, it claimed bookings to date were ahead of last year’s and costs had come down due to the capacity hike.



n NCL unveils plans to order four new craft



Norwegian Cruise Line has disclosed plans to order four new ships and go ahead with a listing on the New York Stock Exchange later this year. Both plans were deferred last year following a drop in the stock market in July.



n Costa cruises halves cost of canaries itinerary



Costa Cruises is offering an 11-night Canary Islands cruise departing on February 6 for half price. The voyage on Costa Riviera now starts at ú559 per person for an insidetwo-bed cabin. The cruise starts at Savona in Italy and calls at Barcelona, Casablanca, Lanzarote, Tenerife, Funchal and Malaga.
