n genesys consultant to chair IT conference



Travel technology consultant Paul Richer of the Genesysconsultancy is to chair a conference on informationtechnology for travel and tourism. The conference, to be held on March 15 and 16 at the Hotel Okura in Amsterdam, will cover the most important IT issues for the industry with speakers talking on the themes of connectivity within and between organisations, how to use technology to enhance marketing and customer relations and the evolving and expanding role of IT in distribution.



n BTAlinks up with lastminute internet set



The British Tourist Authority has linked its Web site with a site called lastminute.com which offers tailor-made trips and last-minute deals on hotel rooms. It is the first time the BTA has entered into a deal with another Internet site but the association’s Internet marketing executive said it was looking to link up with more. The BTA site has taken around 1.4m calls in the last 12 months. The BTA site address is www.visitbritain.com



n BAA launches passenger information web site



UK airports operator BAA has launched a new Internet site to help passengers research the best airline routing from each BAAairport and flight arrivals information for meeters and greeters. The site, produced by IBM, also gives company news, details on airport facilities, shopping, and passenger feedback forms. The site can be found at www.baa.co.uk
