Can you take pets from the UK to Jersey?


There are no quarantine restrictions between the UK and Jersey, so clients can take their pets on holiday. It is important to check which hotels will allow animals.


Is the pound sterling accepted in Jersey?


Yes, although the island also has its own currency, which is equivalent to and interchangeable with the pound.


Can you buy duty-free between the UK and Jersey?


Jersey is not in the European Union, so you can buy duty-free, and that will continue after it is abolished by the European Commission on June 30 1999.


Is a passport required for Jersey?


No, because it is British, although not part of the UK.


What happens if I fall ill?


Jersey does not come under the NHS so if you need a doctor, you will have to pay for it. Therefore, travel insurance is just as important as for any foreign holiday.


What is the best way to get about?


There is a bus service, but a car gives more freedom. Clients can take their own with Condor or hire one on the island. Rental rates are low – £10-£12 a day is typical.


Which side of the road do you drive on?


On the left, the same as in the UK.


Are the driving regulations different to the UK?


Some of the driving laws are different. The biggest being that the maximum speed limit is 40mph and 20mph in many places.
