Neilson Ski moves to keep 2000 costs down

NEILSON Ski has switched outbound flights from the traditional Saturday to a Sunday flight for fear of pricing customers out of holidaying during the millennium celebrations.

The operator has decided not to follow some of its rivals by offering 10 and 11-night packages to prevent customers flying on Christmas Day and returning on New Year’s Day which both fall on a Saturday this year.

Sunworld specialist product director Terry Williamson said:”With New Year’s Day falling on a Saturday, many operators will focus on longer packages. Extended durations will maximise revenue on what will be premium-priced packages but this could price breaks beyond the reach of many clients.”

Millennium prices lead in at ú519 for seven nights’ half-board at the Hotel Prespa, Bulgaria, departing December 26.

Capacity has been frozen with the market expected to remain static, added Williamson.

Meanwhile, Sunworld has also launched its second-edition Beach Villas and Lakes and Mountains brochures.

The operator has added 26 properties to its Beach Villas programme with the majority in Majorca, the Algarve, Minorca and Cyprus.

A dedicated mini brochure for Tuscany and France has also been produced.

In Lakes and Mountains, Norway and Slovenia have been added along with a mountain-bike centre in Austria.
