Scots stick to SPARC plans

THE BREAKAWAY Scottish agents consortium will still be set up despite attracting fewer than its target number of 40 agents.

The Scottish Passenger Agents’ Retail Consortium is expected to have just 36 members after several retailers elected to remain in Advantage.

Roy Brabender, of Donald Mackenzie Travel, said the consortium was still viable.

“There is no doubt SPARC will get off the ground, albeit with fewer members,” he said. “Several were keen but decided to stay in Advantage when they knew many had opted out of the franchise.”

The SPARC steering group will meet this week to launch the consortium formally.
