Out Islands to benefit from wave of investment

The wave of development in the Bahamian accommodation sector is now also hitting the Out Islands.

Over the last four years, more than ú550m was spent on Nassau/Paradise Island, and a $240m regeneration project on Grand Bahama has also been carried out.

A $120m resort and 18-hole championship golf course, the largest project ever to be undertaken in the Out Islands, is planned for Exuma.

The Island Club is being built on 274 acres on Great Exuma and, as well as its golf course, will also boast a health spa and 30-slip marina.

On Long Island, the Cape Santa Maria Beach Resort has completed the construction of a new beach house for the deluxe property’s restaurant, bar and activities and fitness centre.

And on Abaco, the Abaco Inn has undergone a complete renovation, while the 52-room Abaco Beach Resort is spending more than $1.8m on a new health centre and spa and the refurbishment of some of its rooms and cottages.
