SIXT Rent A Car is close to appointing a travel trade manager, to spearhead its push into the agency sector.
A name is expected to be announced early this month. It is understood the successful candidate will be someone with a car-rental background.
The trade push, which started at World Travel Market with an offer to pay 20% commission, follows the opening of the rental company’s 36th outlet in the UK, at Northampton. This completes the first phase of Sixt’s network expansion plan.
The car-rental company has grown from seven branches, which Sixt acquired from European Car Rental at the end of 1997.
Sixt UK chairman Peter Crouch said:”When we launched into the UK, we said it was vital for us to put a nationwide network in place to offer a service comparable with any of the major operators.”
