Odyssey plans move into adults-only market

ODYSSEYResorts International is launching an adults-only brand at the end of this year, but has not yet disclosed the name.

The all-inclusive group, which was formed following a management buyout of Clubs International last April, will open the first adults-only property in Antigua in November.

It is closing Club Antigua on May 9 and will convert it into a 350-room Odyssey Resort and a 100-room adults-only resort.

President Bill Stewart said the group is in the process of buying out the existing shareholders of Club Antigua so that it has complete control over future development.

“We are in a unique position because we have the investment behind us, and we have a small board so we can make quick decisions and act on them,” he said.

Odyssey is due to complete the purchase of hotels in Jamaica and Tunisia, and a 1,000-acre site in Costa Rica at the end of April.

It is also looking at opportunities in Thailand and Greece.

Stewart said it wanted to expand the all-inclusive brand and was also keen to move into the room-only market.

The Clubs International brand is gradually being phased out and replaced with the Odyssey brand.

The group currently has seven properties in St Lucia, Antigua and Kenya.
