Princess reunites a love-struck pair

THIRTY years after appearing in arguably the world’s most romantic tear-jerker, Love Story stars Ali MacGraw and Ryan O’Neal have been reunited, all for the good of the travel industry.

The Hollywood glamour couple made their first public appearance together last week since the film’s launch when they stepped out in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to launch Princess Cruises’ new Ocean Princess.

The Princess fleet is synonymous with romance, not least because of the long-running Love Boat television series.

Princess, keen to find out how the desire for romance has changed in the 30 years since MacGraw and O’Neal bared all for Love Story, has done a bit of research among its passengers.

Shock horror – 85% of those polled said they would have a sexual relationship before marriage, and, even more alarming, cyberdating appears to be the new way to meet that special someone. According to the survey, 25% of Americans said they met over the Internet.

Closer to home, Backchat noticed Eastenders’ Terry trying to put some Valentine’s romance back into his marriage by telling Irene to pick a luxury holiday from a Princess Cruises’ brochure.

But Irene, concerned about the cost, wasn’t sure. Princess marketing manager Gill Haynes, however, thinks Irene should take up the offer.

She said: “If Terry and Irene are trying to bring back the romance, where better than on a Princess Cruises’ love boat in the Caribbean?”
