Boots product development manager Mike Cranfield attacked insurers who wrap travel policies in complicated wordings and then refuse to pay up when claims are made. This adds to poor public perception of the product, he said.

Only 25% of travel insurance intermediaries view the future with confidence, according to a show of hands at the conference. Increasing customer awareness and falling net incomes were cited as the main reasons for the negative outlook.


n trouble-free travel should be new product


Intermediaries should start selling ‘trouble-free travelling’ to get away from negative perceptions of travel insurance policies, Norwich Union Risk Services managing director George Robertson told delegates at the conferences.
