Pierre and Vacances buys Gran Dorado

DUTCH holiday village operator Gran Dorado has been acquired by rival Pierre and Vacances for £64m, writes Christian Koch.

The deal will give Pierre and Vacances and Gran Dorado a combined portfolio of 121 resorts with a total of 133,000 beds. Pierre andVacances also expects a turnover of more than £323m by the end of this year.

But the Gran Dorado name will be retained because of its strong identity.

Pierre and Vacances chief executive officer Gerard Bremond said:”As far as our customers are concerned, nothing will change. And our workforce of 1,700 employees will also continue to be employed by Gran Dorado.

“Pierre and Vacances is now able to spread its wings to Northern Europe and to strengthen its position even further as the market leader within Europe,” he added.
