Operator urges retailers to make most of early launches
COSMOS has insisted that agents can pick up easy business in the early-booking market and have become accustomed to April launches.Managing director Nigel Wright said around 10%-15% of the summer 2001 market will book before August, most of which “walks through the door”.
“It is the knowledgeable customers who book early – those who are very specific about the property they want,” said Wright.
“It is easy business for agents. In the first-edition Summer Sun and All-Inclusive brochures, 73% of bookings are from families most of who know where they want to go.”
He denied the launch of 2001 will detract from summer 2000 which observers said needs all the help it can get.
“We will target those agents who are good at pulling in early business,” said Wright. “Those who are good at lates will be left to focus on that. We will not flood everyone with brochures.”
Sales and marketing director Paul Riches said the cost of an additional, early brochure run was high but was justified by the business generated.
