Gatwick gets extra aircraft

JMC plans to increase capacity out of Gatwick this summer to meet an anticipated surge in late bookings.

Sales and UKoperations director Denis Wormwell said the operator is going to base an extra aircraft at the London airport at the height of the season.

However, he refused to say which destinations it would serve or how much extra capacity it would generate.

“There is a consensus that there will be a healthy late booking market,” he said. “We will be looking to put on some high season capacity from Gatwick.”

JMC reduced its overall capacity for 2000 by 7% when it consolidated its brands last year.
