Fruity ad campaign is a bit of a raspberry

It’s been fun watching the marketing men and women trying to make the launch of summer 2001 an exciting event.

As we said last week, there’s not a great deal of new product and the launches have hardly caused much excitement in travel agencies up and down the country.

So there’s been lots of fruit on display in adverts – strawberries and bananas seem to figure prominently.

What this has got to do with summer 2001 escapes me but perhaps it’s not a bad idea. Plenty of agents like fruit and there’s a good chance it will make them feel good about the programmes.

Lunn Poly also gave us a laugh recently with its poster campaign which read “summer 2001 brochures on sale soon”. We all know what it means but won’t some people think they’re charging for programmes?

Feeling fruity: summer 2001 promotions seem to featurestrawberries a great deal
