n amadeus wins 10-year qantas deal


Amadeus has secured a 10-year contract to provide distribution and other information technology services to Qantas Airways. The deal follows a similar agreement between Amadeus and British Airways (Travel Weekly April 24).


n brittany ferries plans extra vessel


Brittany Ferries will launch a new ferry on its Portsmouth-Caen route in early 2002. It is searching for a shipyard to take on the £80m project but has not ruled out buying an existing ship. Meanwhile, the operator reported a 27% rise in profit to £17.2m last year. Turnover rose by 4.1% to £195m.


n clemence quits airtours for md role


Airtours board director Andrew Clemence has quit the operator to run a Majorca-based excursion company. He takes over as managing director of Pirate Adventure, a company offering shows for UKvisitors. Airtours will announce details of its e-commerce strategy to the City on Wednesday.


n jackson takes top position at qantas


Melbourne businesswoman Margaret Jackson has become the new chairwoman at Qantas, following the resignation of Gary Pemberton last week. BAchairman Lord Marshall, a previous Qantas board member, will return to a board position.


n Airtours appoints new jetset head


Airtours has appointed David Partington to head up the scheduled air side of Jetset. Partington joins from USAirtours, where he was deputy chief executive.
