USWeb site targets UK lates market
US ON-LINE company LastMinuteTravel.com is launching a UK version of its Web site, which advertises late offers on behalf of advertisers.Unlike rivals in the lates market such as the UK’s lastminute.com, the company does not handle bookings itself.
Advertisers on the Internet site include Air France, Lufthansa, Delta, the Savoy Hotel Group, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, Carnival Cruise Line and Avis.
Atlanta-based LastMinuteTravel.com, launched in April 1997, plans to open a UK office later this year.
n The UKcompany Lastminute.com reported a loss of £11m for the first quarter of this year, compared to £6m in the quarter ending December 31 1999. However, the value of transactions generated rose to £7.2m, up from £4.3m.
