Country gears up for summer of millennium shows
Germany is gearing up for a summer of millennium events, all of which will be promoted at the German Travel Show in London. As well as tying a number of products into Expo 2000 in Hanover, German specialist DER has added a seven-night rail tour to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Johann Sebastian Bach’s death. Billed as a must for all enthusiasts of the composer’s music, the £519 lead-in includes train travel between Erfurt, Weimar and Leipzig, scheduled flights and seven nights bed-and-breakfast accommodation.
Expo 2000 in Hanover is of course a major draw. DER business development manager Babette Braun confirmed it will be a key part of the operator’s promotions at GTS. Dedicated products are also available -a three-night Hamburg package including flights, accommodation and one day’s entrance to the Expo, plus rail travel, leads in at £399 per person. The same package is available based on the historic town of Celle, a 50min rail journey from Hanover.
