Budget hotel chain easyHotel plans to open a 75-room hotel in Barcelona at the end of 2022.
Located in the Saint Andreu district in the northeast of the Spanish city, the hotel will be the group’s second owned site in Barcelona.
It is part of easyHotel’s growth strategy, which focuses expansion on key European cities, particularly in France and Spain, which are visited by business and leisure travellers.
The hotel site is also close to the famous Basilica de la Sagrada Família, and metro and rail stations.
Furthermore, a €900m regeneration project will establish the area as the key transport hub in the north of the city by 2022.

Francois Bachetta, chief executive of easyHotel, said: “The acquisition builds on the success of our established owned 204-bedroom Barcelona Fira in the southwest of the city, and we are delighted to have secured this prime site in the northeast of this major European destination.
“It also marks easyHotel’s fourth project in Spain; as well as Barcelona Fira, the group operates a franchised hotel in Malaga and is set to open another franchise hotel in Madrid-Atocha in 2022.
“Despite the recent impact of restrictions on travel, we see significant long-term opportunity for the easyHotel brand as we continue to expand our presence across continental Europe and look forward to announcing further developments for both our owned and franchised portfolio as the year progresses.”
