Agents are generating interest in Newmarket Holidays’ group tours to Costa Rica and Sri Lanka as the operator continued its long-haul programme in January.
While a combined Kenya beach and safari itinerary is a best seller this year, the escorted touring specialist saw departures last month as another milestone in the bounce-back of travel.
Costa Rica requires no pre-departure test, a factor that is boosting popularity of the Latin American country.
Although Kenya and Sri Lanka still require a Covid-19 test to enter, the UK’s removal of all travel testing from February 11 should aid in the success of the tours, according to the operator.
Head of trade sales Richard Forde said: “Costa Rica and Sri Lanka are generating lots of enquiries amongst travel agents.
“These tours are attracting a slighter younger audience and remain in demand with our agent partners.
“Part of the appeal of these tours is that they operate on a small group basis and are centred around open-air activities, ensuring a wish-list travel experience that feels safer.”
He added: “The uninterrupted operation of these tours [in January] set us off to a strong start and gave us a much-needed boost of confidence going forward into 2022.
“Additionally, the fact that our customers were still comfortable to travel with us during that uncertain time meant that the messaging around our safety measures and ‘Peace of Mind Pledge’ had been well received.”
