The number of flights departing from the UK over the forthcoming Bank Holiday period is 21% lower than in 2019, according to new figures.
Aviation analytics firm Cirium said the number of flights for the five-day holiday period is also lower than originally planned at the start of last month.
The firm said that, since July 1, about 900 flights have been cut from flight schedules for the forthcoming Bank Holiday weekend period, from August 26-30.
On July 1, there were 14,030 flights planned to depart the UK over August 26-30 with an estimated 2,455,000 seats.
Now that number has reduced to about 13,130 flights, representing an estimated around 2,317,000 seats.
Cirium said British Airways has cut the most services, removing nearly 380 of the flights departing the UK over Bank Holiday period.
Meanwhile, Flybe has removed more than 130 flights and easyJet has axed about 90 departures.
The flights for this year’s holiday period were compared to the bank holiday period in 2019 which was over August 23-27.
