Ryanair passenger numbers rose by 12% year-on-year in March to reach 12.6 million.
The figure for March 2022 was affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine the previous month.
Europe’s largest airline operated more than 71,350 flights last month with the load factor up by six percentage points to 93%.
The March total gave the no-frills giant an annual rolling total of 168.6 million passengers against 97 million in the 12 months to March 2022.
Rival Wizz Air reported a 72.3% rise in March carryings to almost 4.3 million over the same month last year.
Flights operated with a load factor of 92.2%, up from 86.2% in the same month last year.
The eastern and central European budget carrier saw annual passenger numbers almost double to 51 million.
The March total came as new daily flights to Istanbul were announced from Luton and Gatwick.
