Cathay Pacific named as Business Travel Association partner

Cathay Pacific is joining the Business Travel Association as a partner.

Confirmation came as the Hong Kong carrier revealed annual results for 2022 which showed an improved performance in the second half the year as strict Hong Kong Covid restrictions were lifted.

Cathay Pacific’s membership will enhance the BTA’s global impact at a crucial time as the world continues to recover from the pandemic and the resumption of business travel remains critical for economic growth and recovery, according to the association.

The airline’s head of customer travel and lifestyle Europe, Paul Johannes, said: “Joining the BTA comes at an ideal time as we continue to reconnect Asia and Hong Kong to the world.

“We have seen a huge increase in demand for business travel to destinations in the Asia Pacific region.

“We are looking forward to working closely with the BTA to support this as we grow our flight capacity and network of destinations across the region.”

As a partner of the BTA, Cathay Pacific’s support of gender equality will aid the association’s drive towards a more diverse business travel community.

An example of this dedication was seen in a recent pledge by the carrier to increase female representation in senior positions by 25% by 2025.

BTA chief executive Clive Wratten said: “I am delighted to welcome Cathay Pacific to the BTA community.

“Its shared values and ethos greatly align with the BTA’s vision for the future of the business travel industry. Together, we can further enhance global connectivity and put business travel back on the map in the post-pandemic era of growth and recovery.”
