EasyJet has revealed a “phenomenal” response to its latest recruitment campaign, targeting candidates aged over 45.
It started the advertising drive last week, encouraging empty-nesters and others looking for a new career challenge later in life to apply for cabin crew roles.
The initiative is part of a wider recruitment campaign that has been running over recent weeks.
The campaign to woo workers for next summer started earlier than normal, as the airline aims to avoid the travel chaos that was seen at airports during summer 2022.
Johan Lundgren, chief executive, said the airline has seen 19,000 candidates applying for 2,000 roles, and has so far hired 1,500 recruits.
“It has been extraordinary,” he said, saying the airline has been “oversubscribed” with applications – although there is a “tight labour market” in some regions such as around Gatwick.
