Emirates expands premium economy offering in fleet refit

Emirates has started a two-year retrofit of 120 aircraft including 67 Airbus A380s.

A full cabin interior upgrade includes the installation of the airline’s latest premium economy seats in what is described as a multi-billion dollar investment.

The 67 A380s earmarked to be refitted are due to be back in service by May 2024.

Emirates will then begin work on 53 of its Boeing 777s, with all 120 retrofitted aircraft back in service by March 2025.

The new premium economy cabin, which offers luxurious seats, more legroom, and a service claimed to rival many airlines’ business class offering, is currently available on A380 routes from Dubai to London, Paris and Sydney.

The plans to introduce premium economy on routes to New York JFK, San Francisco, Melbourne, Auckland and Singapore by the end of March 2023.
