Etihad Airways expects to welcome “more than 2.7 million passengers” this summer following a surge in demand for global travel.
Mohammad Al Bulooki, chief operating officer of Etihad Aviation Group, reported a “vast increase” in bookings in recent weeks.
He said: “With summer holidays upon us and to manage the increase in passenger numbers, Etihad has bolstered operations both locally and across our global network to ensure guests enjoy a seamless airport and flight experience.”
The carrier forecasts that more than 1.4 million passengers will depart from Abu Dhabi International Airport alone across 1,100 weekly flights.
Last week, Etihad Airways returned to Heathrow Terminal 4. The national airline of the United Arab Emirates was temporarily based at Terminal 2 and 3 during the pandemic.
