A former British Airways executive has had to stand down from the UK aviation regulator over a “potential conflict of interest”.
The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that non-executive director Garry Copeland had resigned from the board after just seven months.
Copeland, a former engineering director at BA, had been appointed in a “vital role” to helping the authority deliver its strategic safety objectives.
The CAA said: “Garry was appointed to the Civil Aviation Authority Board in September 2021.
“He brought a wide array of skills and experience, having worked in numerous positions across the aviation and aerospace sector.
“However, it is with regret that we have not been able to resolve a potential conflict of interest to our mutual satisfaction.
“We offer him our very best wishes for the future.”
