Exodus Travels is expanding its train travel programme to include 18 of its escorted tours.
The move, tying in with Earth Day’s 2021 theme of Restore Our Earth, will mean that one-third of all of the operator’s trips can be booked without flights.
Where longer rail journeys are required, such as for travelling to Italy’s Amalfi Coast, the company will arrange hotel accommodation near to the railway station and allow for time for an overnight stay.
Head of sustainability Kasia Morgan said: “We already offer train travel to our self-guided trips, but we’re delighted to be expanding this offering by launching a rail option for a number of our European small group adventures.
“The past year has given our customers time to consider both the benefits and impacts that tourism can have and has put sustainable travel at the very forefront of many people’s priorities.”
“We consider offering rail travel a key step towards delivering on the ambitious carbon reduction targets we’ve set through our Planet Promise as well as a demonstration of our intent to double down on our commitment to sustainable and regenerative travel as our sector emerges from the global pause in tourism.”
