Updated: Fresh Border Force strike confirmed

Border Force officials are to stage a new walk-out as part of strike action on March 15 to coincide with the Budget.

The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) has called for a one-day strike by 100,000 members in the Civil Service and public sector.

The latest action follows Border Force strikes this month including a walk-out planned for February 17-20.

A total of 2,125 flights with a potential 365,000 passengers are scheduled to arrive into UK airports at UK airports on March 15, according to aviation data firm Cirium.

Heathrow is set to see the highest number of landings (610), followed by Gatwick (267), Manchester (173), Stansted (168) and Edinburgh (116)

British Airways will be the largest airline by arriving flights (479), followed by EasyJet (408) and Ryanair (265).

The PCS, announcing an escalation of its action over pay, pensions and job security, warned: “Our strategy calls sustained action in targeted areas where we can exert significant pressure on the employer, supplemented by all-member action called when its effect can be maximised.”

The union added: “The targeted action in areas including Border Force, DVLA, DVSA, DWP and Rural Payments Agency, has been highly effective so far.”
