Icelandair reveals new aircraft livery

Icelandair has revealed its new livery for 2022, which uses colours drawn from Icelandic nature –  including the northern lights.

The first aircraft to be painted in the new livery in January was an Icelandair Boeing 737 Max 8.

Five of the aircraft will be repainted with the new colour scheme by the end of February and the rest of the fleet will be updated in line with the airline’s maintenance schedule.

The livery has five different colours – boreal blue, magenta, sky blue, yellow and green -representing different phenomena in Icelandic nature.

A video of the first makeover shows engineers repainting the aircraft.

Reykjavík airport food hall has also had a makeover, using ‘upcycled’ materials and repurposed vintage furniture for a focus on sustainability.
