Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have celebrated the launch of their 11th UK base – Liverpool John Lennon airport – with an event for passengers, giveaways and a Fab Four tribute band.
The sister brands’ first service from Liverpool took off for Tenerife on Thursday morning (March 28). It was followed by a departure to Lanzarote.
Their first summer of operations at the airport offers 20 destinations, with more than 250 jobs having been created.
The inaugural flight comes days after Jet2.com and Jet2holidays announced Bournemouth as their 12th UK base airport.
Hundreds of holidaymakers at Liverpool airport were treated to a VIP customer experience, including a red-carpet welcome and personalised gifts. A Beatles tribute band, called The Beatles for Sale, entertained them at the launch event.
One customer received a seven-night family holiday to Tenerife, and the first 10 holidaymakers to check in at the airport were given a pair of Jet2.com flight vouchers.
The four aircraft based at Liverpool are flying to Spain, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Portugal, Madeira and Cyprus this summer.
The brands report “phenomenal demand” for Liverpool from customers and independent travel agents, so more routes have been added to the programme for summer 2025.
Malaga, Malta and Reus have been introduced for next year, along with a fifth aircraft.
