Lanzarote has emerged the best value package holiday destination for a last-minute peak summer holiday.
Analysis by TravelSupermarket of its 2021 summer outbound pricing data found the Canary island beating the Spanish mainland and Greek islands on package holiday price between now and the end of August.
Seven-night package prices are down 43% on average compared with booking and travelling at the same time in 2019.
For example, seven nights self-catering in Lanzarote from Stansted on August 4 for two adults and two school-age children starts at £161 per person, according to the price comparison website.

Package prices have also plummeted against pre-pandemic summer 2019 to Fuerteventuraby an average of 39%; Tenerife by 33% and Gran Canaria by 33%.
The main Canary islands take four of the five lowest-price spots for a holiday between now and the end of August.
Holidays to Malta have seen the steepest price drop of 52%, followed by 20% to Spain, 11% to Greece, 15% to Croatia and 12% to Portugal.
TravelSupermarket spokesperson Emma Couthurst said: “Being off the west coast of Africa and a longer flight away, the Canaries tend to be a pricier option than their mainland and Balearic cousins.
“But many Spanish on the mainland, who would normally travel to the Canaries, are choosing to holiday at home. As a result, it is mostly Canarians holidaying in their own backyard and a small smattering of Europeans. With only a small number of visitors to the Islands, holiday prices have plummeted.
She added: “Amber list Spain and its myriad of options is still the most searched country for an overseas package from the UK on our site and features half of the twenty destinations on the best value list.
“For the double vaccinated who are travelling without children, green list Malta is also worth considering for a low-priced break. At a country level, Spain, followed by Malta, Greece, Croatia then Portugal offer the best package holiday deals according to average seven-night price.”
