The boss of London City airport has called for countries on the Continent to align with the UK on post-pandemic entry rules.
The plea came after the docklands airport achieved its best monthly passenger figures since the start of the Covid crisis two years ago.
Amsterdam was the most popular route in Marc as London City handled 189,000 passengers, up 54% on February and the best month since March 2020.
British Airways routes to Rotterdam and Nice returned and new services were started to Luxembourg and Milan-Malpensa.
Italian flag-carrier ITA Airways began flying to Milan Linate last week.
London City is gearing up for the Easter getaway, with more than 100,000 passengers expected over the next fortnight.
A new CT scanner means passengers do not need to remove their laptops and liquids from their hand luggage.
But with pre-departure document checking still required for the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany, passengers are being urged to come to the airport well prepared.
Chief executive Robert Sinclair said: “Travel thrives on consistency of rules, and we hope key markets around Europe can align with the processes we have here in the UK as soon as possible.
“In the meantime, as we are a space constrained airport, please check you have all the right paperwork for your journey and show up just a bit earlier than normal.
“Rest assured that we are working with our airlines and passenger handling teams to find solutions that will make your journey as stress free as possible.”
He added: “Our performance has given us greater optimism for 2022 and it is clear we have an important role to play for London, both in terms of facilitating business recovery and, increasingly, inbound and outbound tourism.
“We also see more opportunities for the airport as several regional routes around Europe are currently without services into London and we believe we are well placed to help better connect the capital.”
A new Loganair service to the Isle of Man starts this month followed in May with a connection to Shetland. BA is bringing back services to Mykonos and Bergerac for the summer.
